Urology of San Antonio Realizes a Dramatic Return on Investment with EMR Solution

With revenues hitting a plateau, Urology of San Antonio boldly implemented an electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management system. As a result, the practice increased revenue by raising patient throughput, captured missed charges by optimizing medical coding, and cut costs drastically by eliminating paper processes and reliance on transcription services. Urology of San Antonio broke even on its investment 10 months after go-live and improved its financial outlook and quality of patient care.

Challenge

When the physicians of Urology of San Antonio met to discuss their practice’s future financial status, they concluded that they needed to cut costs and enhance existing revenue streams to maintain or improve profitability. The practice decided to meet this goal by implementing an EMR solution. Although a significant investment in human and financial capital would be required, the group realized that an EMR system would boost productivity and yield positive long-term financial benefits.

A fast electronic medical record system requires less time invested in trouble shooting and allows more time invested in caring for patients. A well written article.

Everything is changing and continuosly progressing, so why not medical recording. EMR or electronic medical records are very helpful nowadays because it is easier to access your medical info. EMR are fast and reliable for they are govern by a physician, in the same way, the consumer controls his or her own health information. EMR is considered to be one of client’s partner in healthcare. Very well written article

On one hand that is a good thing on the other hand what is wrong with me? I keep records over a three day period the lowest in a 24 hour period was 25 times and the most was 32 times in one day. I’ve tried all the medications available and if anything they made it worse.Have there any case studies for such a person like me? Please contact me @ my work or my cell phone.

Just think if everyone had an EMR. If everyone would have a flash drive around their neck or on their person likes an electronic dog tag. You would not need the Internet. All you would need to do is plug the flash drive into the USB port and a pre-set form would come up with all the pertinent info. All the info needed to treat a patient. Like medical history, allergies and medications. We would save so much money, because of the time saving element. No need to run so many tests. And of course a lot less medical mistakes because they would have a great base to work from with each patient.
